ANTTI PYRHÖNEN ABOUT HIS 2010 PLANS
After months of recovery Antti Pyrhönen is on his way back, step by step he longs for action and has news to share, read his story!
Hi fans,
You know I had that terrible crash at the Motocross of Nations and hit the ground very badly while I hardly knew what was going on. Since that accident I went back to Finland and was out from hospital in 2 weeks, but more or less incapable to do anything during 6 weeks.
In December I had a check by the doctor Antti Helminen, he is the Finnish Team Winter Olympic team doctor and from there on I was able to start a first easy training with my home-trainer and at the gym, which was great.
No chance to ride with the bike but just staying home which has been quite difficult to adapt, specially after such intensive season.
I have had 5 operations in total on my leg and finally on the 11th of January I was getting away from the crutches and could WALK!!! I can tell you it is a great feeling after 15 weeks.
From there on I have been able to train more hard and build up my physics again. I have been going to physiotherapy 2 times per week and we have been working hard there to keep the movements all right and trying to keep some muscles also alive there.
Now we are all ready on the positive side of the leg injury and even though I cant say for sure when I am able to ride again I feel much more positive. I kept the hunger to race and ride, I just need to work hard, get on the bike and see from there ... step by step.
I have been having also great moments after the season, after perfect season for me when I was getting my bronze medal at the Finnish federation price-giving ceremony. It was held at the Hilton hotel in Helsinki, so the place for the presentation was outstanding, see my outfit!!
I was also awarded Sport man of the Year in my home town of Hyvinkää, that was great honor for me, because this city is so important to me and also here people follow winter-sports and so on, so it was great that from smaller sport like MX I was noticed so much. The citizens in Hyvinkää anyway follow my racing a lot, so I have had lots of encouraging support from them and from all over Finland.
Plans for 2010 are anyway far ahead, with my injury we need to go step by step like I told, but... I have some big news, my team will be expanded and we are going to get a 2nd rider to our team from South America. He is 18 year old Alejandro Noemi from Chile and he will be joining us at the MX3 World Championships so check our numbers 3 (mine) and 88 (Alex).
It is going to be big challenge for him as much as for us ... but we both are looking forward to this challenge. And both are looking for improvement, as well as for Alex career as well as for our Antti Pyrhönen Racing Team. Come and see us at the races !
